Tradition – Science – Beauty

Helen Pietrulla (1918-2008), a pioneer in the cosmetics industry, was a strong-willed woman who set her mind on working as a cosmetician as early as the 1940s. She devoted herself to her passion and steadfastly worked toward her goal of making everyone look younger, including herself and all her customers. Her drive and scientific expertise ultimately brought her success.

She was the first German cosmetician to receive the international CIDESCO prize from the Comité International d’Esthétique et de Cosmétologie in 1960, followed by the Médaille Mérite d’Esthétique (the Oscar prize of Cosmetics) in 1987 for her pioneering work in the international cosmetics industry. In 2004, she was also awarded the beauty award “A Life of Beauty” for dedicating her life to the cosmetics industry.

On top of everything, Helen Pietrulla wrote a book called “Blauen Reihe der Heidelberger Kosmetik-Lehrbücher”, worked with leading beauty magazines, spoke on several national and international congresses, wrote a play and acted as a professional consultant for the 13-part TV series called “Werden Sie schöner – bleiben sie jung!” (Stay young – let your beauty shine!).

She also founded the first state-approved cosmetics school in Heidelberg, which has trained over 3.000 licensed cosmeticians so far. The teaching methods and techniques used in our school are foundational for further education and success in the practical cosmetics industry.
